Cascade Ice Climbing

Ice climbing is a fantastic winter activity. Scaling frozen waterfalls and cascades is a surreal experience. There are lots of exceptional ice climbing venues around Chamonix. If you are interested in Ice climbing and want to try it out, get in touch and we can arrange something for you. Likewise if you have done some before and want to improve technique and get some coaching and instruction I am happy to arrange an instructional course.

Technical ICE CLIMBING Cogne 2018

25th Jan - 1st Feb

4th Feb - 8th Feb

This winter I'm offering 2 weeks of guided and instructional Ice climbing in Cogne and the adjacent Valleys.

Situated in a cold corner of the

Aosta Valley in the Italian Alps, Cogne and is

an extensive playground for climbing ice,

with reliable conditions and sublime beauty.

Cogne is full of superb icefalls of all grades which are in reliable condition throughout the winter: Repentance Super, Patri, Trip in the night, Cold couloir, Stella artice and many many others.

Technical ice climbing is best guided at a 1;2 ratio. This  maximises climbing, time spent learning, practicing, and keeps multi pitch belays simple.

Accommodation is easily arranged in the cosy and very well situated Hotel la Barme, with a number of room options. The hotel is basically a climbers hotel at the foot of the valley with a short walk to most of the routes.

I have suggested 5 days for each course. Arriving on Saturday or Sunday with 5 days climbing from Monday through to Friday,

Cost. per person is £1500 for 5 days guiding, half board accommodation, equipment rental, and in valley transport.

Transport: There are many options. Arrange your own flights to Geneva Airport, and a transfer to Chamonix. We can meet in Chamonix and drive through in my Vehicle to Cogne on the Monday morning. (around 1 Hours Drive) alternatively meeting in Cogne.

Email me if you are interested and for more information.
